Melbourne singer-songwriter Gretta Ray’s voice is an impressive instrument, able to paint captivating scenes while tightly hugging a groove, and its evolution is detailed on this EP compiling past highlights and new tracks. “Drive” was written while she was still in high school, but feels decades ahead in sophistication. “Time” and “Towers” are equally beyond her years, full of radiant and triumphant admissions of vulnerability. Her depth of feeling is especially evident on “Radio Silence,” a final attempt at an apology for a relationship gone sour. Here and Now hints at bigger things to come for the highly praised and award-winning Aussie, and we can’t wait.
