Ever since his 2015 breakout hit “Deep Down Low,” LA producer Valentino Khan’s vocals—deep, playful, and deliciously seductive—have been his calling card. He delivers once again on his House Party EP, a six-track tour of floor-friendly house music laced with a subtle sense of humor. “Flip the Switch,” a collab with bassline impresario Chris Lorenzo, layers wiry synth stabs with alluring murmurs; “What’s Your Name” pairs purring come-ons with blown-out bass frequencies and battered 909 snares; the pumping “Pony” draws dancers closer with a whispered refrain, making for a clever inversion of big-room energies. Throughout, Khan’s snapping grooves lend an elastic sense of swing, making for pulse-raising club music that’s sly, slippery, and just a little bit sleazy.
