San Francisco-bred Front Country is one of those bands that are tough to describe. Progressive folk? Sure. Virtuosic newgrass? Check. Sparkling acoustic pop? Yep, that, too. Opening track "Miracle" dazzles with an intricate percussive arrangement reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac or HAIM. "Broken Record" marries radio-ready dance pop to acoustic instrumentation, offering vocalist and principal songwriter Melody Walker ample space to flex. And closing track "The Reckoning" faces our current social climate with gorgeous vocal harmonies and hopeful, resolute lyrics. The band recorded Impossible World in their adopted home of Nashville at local studio Goosehead Palace under the direction of producer and engineer Dan Knobler (Rodney Crowell, Kelsey Waldon).
