Singer-composer Anirudh Ravichander has been marrying Tamil folk’s energetic rhythms with electronic and hip-hop influences for years. His tunes have added depth to films since 2012, however his soundtrack to 2024 corruption-fighting actioner Indian 2 is perhaps his most eclectic offering yet. Opener “Paaraa” is a soaring folk-inspired piece, whereas closer “Kadharalz” is a full-on electronic dance stomp. “Calendar Song” is a combination of hip-hop and pop vibes. And the other three tracks are equally individual—encapsulating classical melodies, menacing beats and powerful harmonies.
