A folk troubadour from Bangalore and one of Kerala’s most esteemed and seasoned composers join forces here and produce an evocative score for a film that revives an aesthetic of a simpler time. While the “hey, hey, hey” shout-along on “Paranne” is a Raghu Dixit signature, these songs are more often built on beds of folksy riffs, infused with M. Jayachandran’s cinematic treatments, which take in fluttering flutes on “Minnaminni” as well as rousing horn and string sections on “Vaanaville” which even manage to pack in hearty saxophone licks and breezy, whistling tunes.
