Boston’s Kingsley Flood display their in-concert prowess on Live at the Armory, recorded at a Somerville, Mass., gig in July 2014. Fusing punk ferocity and folk tenderness, the band galvanize the crowd with sweat-raising rockers like “Devil’s Arms” and “Strongman” and show their thoughtful side with wistful ballads like “Waiting on the River to Rise” and “Sigh a While.” At key moments, Jenée Morgan Force’s keening fiddle and Chris Barrett’s soulful trumpet offer nuanced counterpoint to frontman Naseem Khuri’s warmly weathered vocals. This album makes a fine introduction to this up-and-coming combo.
