On his first solo album in a decade, Hot Water Music leader Chuck Ragan brings his signature gravel and grit to this collection of original Americana, folk, and country music. Single “Wild in Our Ways” is an upbeat rocker reminding us to live life to the fullest. “Echo the Halls” is the Floridian folkie’s anthemic love letter to the quiet life. (Ragan famously makes his living as a fly-fishing guide.) On “One More Shot,” he sings a honky-tonk duet with Paige Overton of the Vegas country troupe Paige and the Overtones. As with much of Ragan’s music, Love & Lore is heartfelt and nostalgic and speaks to the universal human experience.
