

Did you think that by his fifth album, Mystikal might have tamed his frenzied flow? Not a chance. On Tarantula, the rapper’s dexterous, half-shouted delivery remains as dynamic as ever. Scott Storch jams out on the propulsive title track, as Mystikal proclaims himself “the black Elvis Presley” while spitting in a way that more closely resembles a hopped-up Little Richard. And under the verbal gymnastics on the Neptunes-produced “Bouncin’ Back (Bumpin’ Me Against the Wall)” is an inspiring anthem for becoming a better person.
