Fifteen years is several lifetimes in pop. Fortunately for Steps, their pop was never beholden to vogueish trends—they’ve consistently dealt in the unashamedly feel-good. The band’s fifth album—and first non-festive effort since 2000’s Buzz—stays true to these values. “Story of a Heart” is a magisterial Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson orginal you’re amazed Steps haven’t recorded before now, “No More Tears on the Dancefloor” allows Lee and H a rare chance to shine, while “Scared of the Dark” might be a career-best single.
