Terrible Human Beings is an invigorating reminder of what rock ’n’ roll is all about: It’s packed with scrappy, fun, punk-tinged garage and alternative tunes that just don’t give a damn. Powered by a ‘60s guitar jangle, “They Put a Body in the Bayou” is a stomping showcase for how Mario Cuomo can howl out a melody. The richly sludgy “Creatures” feels like a drunken stumble through a swamp. And “Black Francis” is a spot-on facsimile of what Pixies did best. '60s pop. '70s hard rock. '80s indie. The Orwells wear their influences on their sleeves while doing them all proud.
