An R&B legend who had a solid 20-year run before his untimely death in 2006, Gerald Levert was born into the business (his father was the lead singer for the O'Jays) and left behind a lengthy discography that includes ten solo albums, seven records with the group Levert, and two with LSG. Over the course of his career, he racked up numerous platinum plaques, several #1 smashes, a GRAMMY, plus awards from BET, the NAACP, and Soul Train. This collection includes just 17 tracks, but features all of his biggest and best known hits, such as early jams like "Casanova" and "Private Line," mid-career highlight "Thinkin' Bout It" and post-death release "In My Songs." To be sure, there are a more than a few great songs that were left out here (perhaps forthcoming in a Volume 2?), but this is still a stellar collection from an undisputed love-jam legend.
