The only female member of Fat Joe's Terror Squad collective, Remy Ma was poised to become a major star until a late-night shooting (supposedly over $3,000) derailed her fast-rising career and sent her upstate for a lengthy stretch. Mentored by the legendary Big Pun, she made her debut (as Remy Martin) on his Yeeeah Baby album; then she was brought into TS and earned a GRAMMY® nomination for its mega-smash single "Lean Back." There's Something About Remy was her first solo album, released in 2006 to great reviews (if mediocre sales). Unlike Foxy Brown and Lil Kim, who mostly rhymed about sex and shopping, Remy adopted more of a thugged-out murderess approach. This won her plenty of fans but probably didn't help her court case much. She's scheduled for release in '15 or '16; this album should hold fans over until she gets out. With top-notch production from the likes of Alchemist and Scott Storch, plus features from Pun, Joe, Ne-Yo, Roc Raida, and Keyshia Cole, she goes all out on joints like "Feel So Good," "Thug Love," "Tight," and "What's Going On."
