Yellow is a different kind of album for the Washington post-punk band Naomi Punk—a different kind of album for anyone, probably. Combining warped, fractured song sketches (“Cookie,” “Gotham Brake”) with rumbling passages of sound collage and subcutaneous noise (“My Shadow,” “Matroska”), acidic guitars with industrial hums, this is music that inherently tests boundaries, exploring the strange, irradiated netherworld where sound meets noise.
