About 44 MAGNUM
Japanese heavy metal outfit formed in 1977 by vocalist Tatsuya Umehara and guitarist Satoshi Hirorse. With the addition of Hironori Yoshikawa on bass and Satoshi Miyawaki on drums, they persevered for many years in the shadow of higher-profile Japanese bands such as Loudness, Earthshaker and Bow Wow. They eventually secured a record contract in 1982 and debuted with Danger the following year. Although the musicianship was competent, their ideas and style were too obviously influenced by British and American acts such as Van Halen, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.
