Alphabeat

Purveyors of giddily upbeat pop, Denmark's Alphabeat burst onto the European music scene in 2008 with their lively debut, This Is Alphabeat. Drawing inspiration from radio hits of the 1970s and '80s, the Scandinavian sextet, fronted in time-honored boy/girl fashion by Anders SG and Stine B, often comes across as a more organic version of fellow Danes Junior Senior, as best revealed on the breezy, beat-driven "Fascination." Despite Alphabeat's accessibility, the group reveals an edgier background at times, most notably on its fine cover of Public Image Ltd's "Public Image."
