About António Meneses
Cellist Antonio Meneses is widely heard as a concerto soloist but is perhaps most highly regarded as a chamber music player. For the last ten years of existence of the famed Beaux Arts Trio, Meneses was its cellist. Meneses made his recording debut in 1983, joining violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, conductor Herbert von Karajan, and the Berlin Philharmonic in a recording of Brahms' Concerto for violin, cello, and orchestra, Op. 102. Meneses' reputation as a chamber music player is perhaps even higher than that which he has attained through his solo work. He released an album of Brahms cello sonatas and songs with pianist Gerard Wyss in 2022.
