Rising Detroit rapper Baby Smoove has already earned a reputation as one of the region’s best storytellers. • Baby Smoove was a quiet kid who graduated from high school despite frequent absences. He started rapping at 15, when he went with a friend with a studio and instantly discovered his talent. • He dropped five projects in 2019: Flawless, Mr.Perfect, Purple Heart, Baby, and the EP La Vibes. • The rapper’s 2019 streaming hit “Akorn” samples the theme from The Godfather. The title refers to a pharmaceutical company that makes codeine cough syrup. • The cover art for Purple Heart is an homage to Prince, whom Baby Smoove is a huge fan of. As for the music itself, Baby Smoove was inspired by his real-life experiences with women. • He returned in 2020 with the mixtapes I’m Still Perfect and Hardwood Classic.
