About Catriona Morison
Mezzo-soprano Catriona Morison has been active both in the British Isles and in Germany, where she was partly trained. She began performing in Weimar as part of a local opera studio. She then joined the company at Opera Wuppertal, being named principal singer of the company after several years. The 2017 Singer of the World competition marked a breakthrough for Morison, who jointly won the Song Prize and was the sole winner of the Main Prize. From 2017 to 2019, she was a member of the BBC's New Generation Artists program. She has appeared at major houses in Germany, Britain, and elsewhere. Morison made her recording debut in 2019 on a BBC Symphony recording of Dame Ethyl Smyth's Mass in D. She returned two years later with The Dark Night Has Vanished, a song recital with accompanist Malcolm Martineau.
