About David Kuebler
David Kuebler is an American tenor who developed a strong American career in the 1990s. He was educated at Elmhurst College. While he has a repertory that begins at the very start of opera with Monteverdi and through all eras, he has been particularly in demand for his portrayal of leading twentieth-century roles. He debuted at the San Francisco Opera in 1993 as Flamand in Richard Strauss' Capriccio. In the U.S., he has also appeared at the Seattle Opera, the Santa Fe Opera, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Washington Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Metropolitan. In addition, he has also sung at major summer series and festivals, including Wolf Trap Farm Park, Grant Park, Saratoga, the Mostly Mozart Festival and the Ravinia Festival. He has appeared frequently in international opera houses such as those of Sydney, Bern, Rome, Parma, Venice, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Zürich, Munich, Paris, and Vienna, and in the Bayreuth Festival, the Glyndebourne Summer Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, the International Rossini Festival of Pesaro, and the Bregenz Festival. Among his roles are the title role of Mozart's Lucio Silla, Rossini's Il Cambiale di Matrimonio and Il Signor Bruschino, the title role of Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg, Alwa in Berg's Lulu and Andres in the same composer's Wozzeck, Boris in Janacek's Katya Kabanova, Stefa in his Jenufa, and Albert Gregor in Vec Makropulos, Henri in Verdi's Les Vepres Siciliennes, Matteo in Strauss' Arabella, and the title role of Busoni's Doktor Faust. He can be heard and recordings of Marc Blitzstein's Regina and Kurt Weill's Street Scene (both conducted by John Mauceri), Rossini's Cambiale and Bruschino, Fidelio conducted by Georg Solti, and both Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg and Eine Florentinische Tragödie. His performances in Lulu and Arabella are also available on videos.
