About Georgia
Singer-songwriter/percussionist Georgia Barnes’ childhood bedroom doubled as her father’s band studio, which is where she started on the drums. ∙ At SOAS University of London, she learned to play the West African kora, and she studied percussion in Cuba, earning a degree in ethnomusicology. ∙ She toured Europe with The Flaming Lips in 2017 and has collaborated with the band’s Wayne Coyne on new music. ∙ In 2019, she won the Association of Independent Music’s One to Watch Award in association with BBC Music Introducing—the nationwide talent discovery and development project. ∙ Her song “About Work the Dancefloor” was nominated for both Best British Song and Best Song in the World at the 2020 NME Awards. ∙ Georgia’s album Seeking Thrills was shortlisted for the 2020 Mercury Prize.
