About HEALTH

When they formed in 2005, HEALTH began injecting L.A.’s flourishing indie underground with some of its heaviest, harshest doses of dissonant noise. The experimental band thrived in gritty DIY venues like downtown’s The Smell, where they recorded their 2007 self-titled debut, a clanging, grinding thriller soaked in sweat, dread, and endless feedback. But it was “Crimewave,” a slippery chiptune remix collaboration with Crystal Castles, that pushed HEALTH into the spotlight. Soon, the noisemakers were opening up for Nine Inch Nails, who were a likely influence on the industrial-tinged doom rock of 2009’s Get Color. Their next project would take them even further: In 2012, HEALTH created the score for shooter-noir video game Max Payne 3, exposing their post-apocalyptic soundscapes to millions of gamers worldwide. Alongside their soundtrack work (including a throbbing cover of New Order’s “Blue Monday” for the 2017 film Atomic Blonde), HEALTH continue to cultivate their own cyberpunk musical universe, stretching the limits of noise rock, industrial-metal, electro-punk, and even dance pop with their DISCO collaborative series and DISCO+ remix collections, featuring guests like Lamb of God, The Neighbourhood, and former tourmates Nine Inch Nails.
