About Hedley
The pop-rock band Heldey blew up in Canada after lead singer Jacob Hoggard’s successful run on Canadian Idol in 2004. After selling millions of singles, they went on hiatus in 2018 as Hoggard faced allegations of sexual misconduct. • Hedley was formed in 2003 by Jacob Hoggard, Kevin Giesbrecht, Kevin Heeres, Ryan Federau, and Brandon McKay. • In 2004, Hoggard entered Canadian Idol as part of a bet and wound up placing third in the competition. • The band broke up soon after, and Hoggard convened a new Hedley lineup featuring former members of the band Everything After: Tommy Mac, Dave Rosin, and Jay Benison. • Hedley’s self-titled 2005 debut album reached No. 3 in Canada and yielded the single “On My Own,” a No. 1 hit in Canada. • The 2009 single “Perfect,” from Hedley’s third album, The Show Must Go, became the band’s first US chart entry, peaking at No. 25 on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs chart. • The group’s fourth album, 2011’s Storms, won the Juno Award for Pop Album of the Year. • In 2018, Hedley announced their indefinite hiatus as Hoggard faced multiple sexual misconduct allegations.
