About Higher Brothers

Captivating hip-hop fans around the globe with lyrics written in Mandarin and Sichuanese, Chinese rap foursome Higher Brothers have achieved success far beyond regional borders. • Before forming Higher Brothers, Melo, Masiwei, and Psy.P were members of local hip-hop collective Chengdu Rap House in the early 2010s. • In 2015, Masiwei and Psy.P collaborated with DZKnow to issue the viral “Haier Brothers,” a single inspired by the Haier brand fridge in their shared apartment. • After enlisting Melo, the group officially became the Higher Brothers (originally Haier Brothers). In 2016, they signed to 88rising, an independent label focusing on Asian artists. • When the Higher Brothers delivered their 2017 debut album, Black Cab, 88rising shared a video of hip-hop heavyweights like Migos and Lil Yachty commending the lead single “Made in China,” which catapulted the group to international stardom. • The Higher Brothers joined forces with Joji, Rich Brian, and AUGUST 08 to deliver “Midsummer Madness,” a single from 88rising’s 2017 Head in the Clouds. • Their 2019 album Five Stars features high-profile rappers like ScHoolboy Q, Soulja Boy, and JID.
