Hop Along

Led by idiosyncratic singer/songwriter/guitarist Frances Quinlan, Hop Along make impulsive, punk-injected indie rock. The group emerged from Quinlan's solo project called Hop Along, Queen Ansleis. After Quinlan was joined by brother Mark Quinlan (drums) and Tyler Long (bass), the name was shortened to Hop Along. After releasing two EPs in 2009, their first band full-length, Get Disowned, arrived in 2012 to a warm reception by the indie music press. In 2014, they added Joe Reinhart (guitar) and signed to Saddle Creek. Noted in part for its raw, candid lyrics, Painted Shut followed a year later, appeared on numerous Billboard charts, and landed on several high-profile year-end lists. Bark Your Head Off, Dog, featuring an expanded palette with strings and backing vocalists, was released in 2018. ~ Marcy Donelson
