About J.Peter Schwalm

J. Peter Schwalm is an electronic musician, producer, and soundscape artist whose work spans numerous fields, including live performance, recordings, radio drama, film, and ballet. Initially active making nu-jazz and broken beat as Slop Shop, and drum'n'bass under a few other aliases, he soon caught the ear of several notable artists, and received attention for Drawn from Life, his 2001 collaboration with Brian Eno. 2006's Musikain featured Imogen Heap, guitarist Leo Abrahams, and several others. The modern classical work Wagner Transformed appeared in 2013, and much of Schwalm's subsequent work has blurred the lines between ambient, jazz, avant-rock, and improvisation. He has released albums with Arve Henriksen, Markus Reuter, David Torn, and others. Sushi. Roti. Reibekuchen, an archival recording of an improvised concert with Eno and Holger Czukay, was released in 2024.
