About Jemaine Clement

Actor and musician Jemaine Clement met his frequent creative collaborators Taika Waititi and Bret McKenzie while attending Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. ∙ Along with Bret McKenzie, Clement is one-half of the Grammy Award-winning comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. ∙ In 2008, Flight of the Conchords’ self-titled debut album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. ∙ Flight of the Conchords’ self-titled comedy series earned nine Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Clement. ∙ In 2014, Clement and Taika Waititi wrote, directed, and starred in the mockumentary feature film What We Do in the Shadows, which chronicles a group of vampires coping with domestic irritations. ∙ The TV series What We Do in the Shadows, which Clement also cowrites and codirects, was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. ∙ A prolific voice actor, Clement has had roles in the films Rio and Moana, as well as the TV series Rick and Morty and The Simpsons.
