About King Whale
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid, I could never sing as well as my mom's side of the family. But one day, I heard the Just The Way You Are Remix by Bruno Mars feat Lupe Fiasco and it was like I heard music for the first time. I found my voice, and I knew I had to share it! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Chance the Rapper, Coloring Book Gallant, Ology Lupe Fiasco, Tetsuo & Youth Lupe's lyrical prowess throughout T&Y inspired my own songwriting style. Gallant showed he's not afraid to explore the deep, complex aspects of his emotions on Ology. Coloring Book was just masterpiece of storytelling, composition and belief. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Right Back” I love this song because it embodies my mentality so well. Life knocks us down more than we can often take, but I'm never going to stop trying to get back up. And i hope anyone who listens to this song feels empowered to do the same! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I met Wynton Marsalis at Essentially Ellington. I opened for Kota the Friend with Jason Channel in the pandemic. But headlining my own show in Orlando truly helped me really discover what it means to perform as an artist. And many more shows to come! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Being rich or famous never has been my goal. Doing a song with Lupe or Kota the Friend would be but, I really just want to change someone's life with my music. If you turn to my songs when you're having a bad day, I'd consider that a great career
