About KSHMR

DJ and producer KSHMR made his name as one-half of the production duo The Cataracs, then emerged as a solo EDM star whose music nods to his Indian roots. • KSHMR was born Niles Hollowell-Dhar in Berkeley, California. In 2003, he formed the production duo The Cataracs with David Singer-Vine. Both were sophomores at Berkeley High School. • The Cataracs teamed up with the hip-hop group Far East Movement and the singer Dev for the 2010 smash “Like A G6,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They also worked with A-listers like Snoop Dogg and Selena Gomez. • He went solo as KSHMR in 2014. The name derives from his Indian heritage—his grandparents would tell him stories of the city of Kashmir. • His music also evokes his ancestry. Songs like 2014’s “Kashmir” and 2015’s “JAMMU” employ atmospheric Eastern melodies, and the “JAMMU” music video sheds light on the violent conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. • KSHMR’s 2015 single “Secrets,” featuring dance music demigod Tiësto and Australian vocalist VASSY, quickly became a mainstage festival staple and went Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. •In 2017, KSHMR established his own record label, Dharma Worldwide, which has released singles by artists like Timmy Trumpet and R3HAB.
