Larry Goldings

About Larry Goldings

A versatile and highly regarded pianist, Larry Goldings is known for his balance of hard-swinging, harmonically nuanced post-bop and funky organ jazz. Emerging in the early '90s, he established himself as a premier soloist on the New York scene, often playing in his trio with guitarist Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart. Goldings has issued a stream of highly regarded albums, including 1995's Whatever It Takes, 2002's Sweet Science, and 2007's Grammy-nominated Saudades with drummer Jack DeJohnette and guitarist John Scofield. He is a longtime touring member of James Taylor's band, and has been sought out by a wide array of performers, including Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux, Maceo Parker, Sia, and Charlie Haden. Along with hardcore jazz dates, like 2022's Perpetual Pendulum, Goldings has expanded his approach, incorporating his love of classical and electronic sounds on 2021's Earthshine and his 2024 collaboration with tap dancer Melinda Sullivan, Big Foot.
