About Les Ogres de Barback

Les Ogres de Barback are an eclectic French folk group comprising the five Burguière siblings. Initially formed as a quartet in the mid-'90s, the band is known for its nimble arrangements and diverse stylistic range, which encompasses everything from French chanson traditions and Eastern European folk to post-punk and children's music. Since the release of their third album, 2001's Croc' Noces, they have recorded exclusively for their self-owned Irfan (Le Label) imprint, producing a colorful and extensive catalog that includes highlights like 2004's breakout Terrain Vague, 2011's Comment je Suis Devenu Voyageur, a number of live albums, and the popular Pitt Ocha children's series. Les Ogres remained prolific through the end of the 2010s, maintaining a consistent chart presence and releasing their ninth studio album, Amours Grises & Colères Rouges, in 2019. A fifth sibling joined the band in 2022 and appeared on the Pitt Ocha et Le Vélo À Propulsion Phonique album and subsequent tour which, like their previous live shows, was held under a big top circus tent.
