In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I'm of mixed heritage and growing up I was heavily influenced by both Eastern and Western music. My mother loved the Rollings Stones, Elton John and Michael Jackson and my dad loves traditional Japanese music such as Enka and J-Pop! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bonobo, Fragments Namie Amuro, SWEET 19 BLUES The Neptunes, The Neptunes Present... Clones These represent just three sides of my musical loves - Electronic, Hip-Hop/R&B and J-Pop. I love a great hook/melody and heavy beats. The music also needs to resonate with me emotionally. They all recall pivotal times in my life. Tell us why you chose this song. “Tell Me (Extended Kurayami Mix)” I wrote this originally as a ballad but flipped it into a skippy garage thing. I love the contrast, which is what I always aim for - take something and reimagine it to stir a different emotion. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There are too many to think of but playing my first show in Ibiza, signing my first EP and hearing my music on the radio and being track of the week. I'm also so proud to represent my Japanese heritage. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Collaborate with my heroes, tour my own club night with my friends and shine a light on the beautiful and captivating Japanese music culture and heritage.
