About Mai Tai
This group had an unusual geographic background. Jettie Wells, Carolien De Windt, and Mildred Douglas were from Guyana, and they formed Mai Tai in Amsterdam in 1983. Unfortunately, their origins proved more interesting than their songs, which were generic, close to soulless Urban Contemporary and pop. None of their singles for Critique proved successful in America, although they did better in England and Europe. ~ Ron Wynn
