About Marion Martineau
Marion Martineau is a versatile figure who plays cello, viola da gamba, and bass viol in music from the 17th century to the present. Martineau frequently appears as part of a viol duo with Atsushi Sakai, performing music of the 17th and 18th century as well as contemporary repertory. Martineau and Sakai issued their debut album Forqueray in 2016. The following year, as a member of Sit Fast, she was heard on the album Dowland, Benjamin: Seven Tears Upon Silence. Martineau and Sakai returned in 2018 with the album Couperin, also featuring keyboardist Christophe Rousset and viola da gamba player Isabelle Saint Yves. In 2021, Martineau, Sakai, and Rousset released the album Marin Marais: Pièces de Viole, Livre I.
