About Mlindo The Vocalist
Mlindo The Vocalist joined South Africa’s new Afrosoul vanguard with the release of his breakout single “AmaBlesser” in 2018. After stints with the groups Flow Riders and White Bread in the early 2010s, the singer (born Lindokuhle Magedezi in 1995 in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal) tried his luck by sharing vocal covers of popular South African songs on social media. His rendition of DJ Maphorisa’s 2018 megahit “Midnight Starring” caught the ear of Maphorisa himself, who invited Mlindo to the studio to record "AmaBlesser," in which the singer lamented the love of his life leaving him for a “blesser” (sugar daddy). The same relatability to the everyday man permeated his debut album, Emakhaya, released by Maphorisa’s BlaqBoy Music imprint in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Africa in 2018. Mlindo The Vocalist has since become a household name who has worked with the likes of Sun-El Musician, Nathi, Riky Rick, Samthing Soweto, Sjava, Kabza De Small, and many other South African stars.
