About Myriam Gendron

This Canadian folk artist builds on studies of literature and Québécois culture -- utilizing precise fingerpicking and clear, lyrical enunciation -- to present sparse, calming, hypnotically poetic material. Her debut album, 2014's Not So Deep as a Well, comprised music written to accompany the poetry of the American screenwriter, critic, and activist Dorothy Parker. Taking a break to raise her family, Gendron returned in 2021 with Ma Délire: Songs of Love, Lost and Found, presenting an expansion of her sound with the help of notable avant-garde players Bill Nace and Chris Corsano. Nace returned to contribute to 2024's Mayday -- a personal collection inspired by Gendron's mother's passing -- alongside Dirty Three's Jim White and Portland's Marisa Anderson.
