About Pablo Heras-Casado
To an unusual extent the career of conductor Pablo Heras-Casado (born in 1977 in Granada, Spain) successfully runs the full gamut from Baroque to contemporary classical. His work on Monteverdi’s operas with Concentus Musicus Wien impressively underlined his Baroque credentials, while as principal guest conductor of Teatro Real in Madrid he led a highly successful staging of Wagner’s gargantuan Der Ring des Nibelungen across four consecutive seasons (2019-22). Heras-Casado is also actively committed to the core symphonic repertoire, guest-conducting numerous orchestras in Europe and America. From 2011 to 2017 he served as principal conductor of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York, while his long-standing relationship with Freiburger Barockorchester yielded impressive recordings of symphonies by Beethoven and Mendelssohn. In 2021, he was named Artist of the Year at the International Classic Music Awards, in recognition of his striking versatility and boundlessly energetic music-making.
