Petra Magoni

Pisa, Italy-born Petra Magoni is classically trained but has seen success as a pop singer with a jazz sensibility. In the '90s she participated in the Arezzo Wave and Sanremo festivals, and also released her first two albums. After collaborating with jazz musicians (including her future husband, Stefano Bollani) and releasing an album under the moniker Sweet Anima, she began performing and recording with bassist Ferruccio Spinetti in the duo Musica Nuda, whose eponymous debut album -- featuring jazz-tinged renditions of Italian and international pop classics -- was released in 2003 to considerable critical acclaim. Further albums Musica Nuda 2 (2006), Quam Dilecta (2007), and Live à Fip (2007) confirmed the duo's success. Meanwhile, Magoni's electro-pop-oriented project Aromatic issued an eponymous debut in 2004. ~ Aurelio Pasini
