About Phonte
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 7, my uncle took me to the Fresh Fest at Greensboro Coliseum to see Run DMC, The Fat Boys, and Whodini. My fate was sealed. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A Tribe Called Quest, Midnight Marauders Meshell Ndegeocello, Bitter The answer could change daily, but these are three of my favorite albums. These records all found me at big transitional stages of my life and gave me the strength to keep moving forward. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Can We” I cut this in LA with my man JuLia Lewis. I was sick as a dog when I did the vocal and tried recutting a few days later when I was feeling better, but it wasn't the same so I kept the OG. Preserving the moment was more important than technicality. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I share writing credits on a song with Miles Davis. I'm not sure if anything beats that...lol. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I never really had a bucket list. I just know there's always another song to write.
