Protean Quartet

The Protean Quartet is among the few string quartets that uses historical instruments and draws its ethos from the historical performance movement. Its members are involved with that movement through their work with other ensembles. The Protean Quartet won several major awards, including first prize at the York International Early Music Competition in 2022. In 2024, the quartet released its second album, Tempus omnia vincit, on the Linn Records label.
