About Samuel Nebyu
Violinist Samuel Nebyu made a strong initial impact in the mid-2010s with prizes, concert appearances, and a distinctive debut album of music by composers of African descent. "I was born into two different cultures, and because of that I always considered myself as a multicultural person and musician. So, these selected composers, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Chevalier Saint-Georges, who are also mixed race, bring another personal connection for me," Nebyu told The Violin Channel. Born in Hungary, Nebyu is of Ethiopian Jewish background. He enrolled at the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music at 15 and moved on to Temple University in Philadelphia. Nebyu released his debut CD, Music by Composers of African Descent, in 2017 while still a student at Temple. ~ James Manheim
