About Skip Battin
Country-rock journeyman bass player Clyde "Skip" Battin was part of the duo Skip & Flip that scored three chart entries in 1959-1960, including "It Was I" and "Cherry Pie," both of which reached number 11. He formed the Evergreen Blueshoes in the mid-'60s and was a member of the Byrds from 1969 to 1972, playing bass and singing. He later appeared with lineups of the Flying Burrito Brothers and New Riders of the Purple Sage. ~ William Ruhlmann
