In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I thought I understood music until I heard Fela Kuti’s ‘teacher don’t teach me nonsense’ aged 6. The format and sounds taught me everything I needed to know about myself - that I can and should do whatever I want the way I want. Originality is key.
