About The Judds

The Judds, the mother-daughter act of Naomi and Wynonna, were one of country music’s most successful duos of all time, releasing 14 No. 1 singles and 6 Platinum albums. ∙ Naomi spent years self-promoting The Judds while working as a nurse and single mom, before landing a record deal with RCA Nashville in 1983. ∙ When The Judds earned their first No. 1 hit with the 1984’s “Mama He’s Crazy,” they were only the second female duo to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. ∙ Their double-Platinum debut album, 1984’s Why Not Me, produced such hit singles as “Girls Night Out,” “Love Is Alive,” and the Grammy-winning title track. ∙ The title track from 1990’s Love Can Build a Bridge was covered by Cher, Chrissie Hynde, Neneh Cherry, and Eric Clapton, and it was the official Comic Relief charity single in 1995. ∙ In 1991, the Judds’ televised farewell concert drew six million viewers and was one of the most popular pay-per-view events in TV history. ∙ Over their career, they earned five Grammys and nine CMA Awards, and the Academy of Country Music named them Top Vocal Duo for seven years in a row.
