The Kentucky Colonels

About The Kentucky Colonels

The Kentucky Colonels began when 10-year-old guitar prodigy Clarence White and his brothers formed The Three Little Country Boys. They eventually changed their names to the Country Boys and then the Kentucky Colonels, and when they recorded their 1962 debut album, they evolved from straight country to bluegrass. They became favorites on the West Coast folk/traditional-music circuit, even appearing on TV and in films. They disbanded in '65, and Clarence White eventually went on to fame as a guitarist for the Byrds, helping to usher in country rock.
