The Philharmonic Brass

The Philharmonic Brass, which also features percussion, includes members of the Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras, as well as players from other groups. The Philharmonic Brass was formed by Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic players who both wanted to draw on the long tradition of vernacular brass playing in their respective cities and to create a new listening experience. The Philharmonic Brass gave its debut concert at the Musikverein in Vienna in April of 2023. The group's repertory ranges from Bach to John Williams, rendered in new arrangements tailored to the abilities of individual players in the group. The conductor of The Philharmonic Brass is Tugan Sokhiev. The group released its debut album, Overture!, in 2024, with Sokhiev as conductor.
