About The Shamrocks
A good deal of confusion has circulated about the true origins of this band, which released a solid album of British Invasion-styled R&B in the mid-'60s on Ariola in Germany. Some thought that they, like many groups of the time, were a British outfit based in Germany. They actually originated in Sweden, however, recording a four-song EP in Britain. Those tracks, and others subsequently cut in Hamburg, were combined to comprise their sole LP. The album is very much in the style of raw British R&B/rockers like the Pretty Things and the Downliners Sect, and though there's virtually nothing in the way of original material or approach, it's energetically executed. ~ Richie Unterberger
