About The Toasters

Considered to be the first true ska band of the Third-Wave era, the Toasters made their mark in the early 1980s in the gritty Lower East Side section of New York and actually saw commercial success during the American ska boom of the '90s. Influenced by the Two-Tone sound emanating from Britain as well as by hardcore punk music, Rob “Bucket” Hingley formed the outfit in 1981. He also created the now-defunct Moon Ska record label, which released notable Toasters’ releases such as 1987’s SKABOOM as well as numerous other ska albums. The Toasters lineup continues to change, with Hingley the only remaining member from the orginal group.
