VanVelzen

Otherwise known as Roel Van Velzen, Dutch singer/songwriter VanVelzen was born in Delft in 1978, and got his start in music as a student. He won the 1999 Heineken Student Music Award, and in 2006, he released his debut single, "Baby Get Higher." While he mostly performs behind a piano, this diminutive musician is also adept at guitar, and his ability to write strong songs took his second single to the Top Ten on the charts. His debut album, Unwind, was an even bigger success, hitting the number one spot the week of its release in March of 2007. He continued the momentum of a great year with added touring and festival performances. 2009's Take Me In and 2012's Rush of Life both debuted inside the Dutch Top Ten. ~ Chris True
