About Young Pappy
Chicago rapper Young Pappy was gaining notice for his high-energy drill tracks when he was gunned down in 2015, becoming a victim of the gang violence described in his music. • Pappy came from a musical family. His grandfather was a member of the Chicago soul group The Notations, and his father used to rap. His younger brother, rapper/producer TaySav, hopes to carry on his legacy. • The rapper showcased his verbal skills on the 2014 track “Phones,” which samples a familiar iPhone ringtone. • He released his second mixtape, 2 Cups: Part 2 of Everything, featuring a remix of fellow Chicagoan Chief Keef’s “Faneto,” just weeks before his murder on May 29, 2015.
