CCM welcomed a new crop of singer/songwriters in the ‘00s, artists who reaffirmed the movement's roots in sweetly scented pop and unwavering optimism. The moody Christian alt-rock that emerged in the previous decade gave way to Nichole Nordeman and her jubilant, sunshine-drenched smash hit “Brave,” as well as the booming voice of Jeremy Camp, whose “Take You Back” radiates with his deeply redemptive sense of faith. TobyMac, putting DC Talk on hold to start up his solo career, also embraced this upbeat sensibility in “Made To Love,” a bouncy fusion of hip-hop and ska perfect for lazy days at the beach.
